During the week of May 5-11, 2024, homeschoolers will celebrate the 37th Annual Maine Home Education Week! To mark the occasion, homeschoolers will gather at Pineland Farms on May 7 for one of two programs, "Dairy Discovery" and/or "Farmyard Exploration." Then, we will gather at Cole Land Transportation Museum on May 9 for one of two programs, "Junior Curator" or "Veteran Interview."
The goal of Capitol Day is to provide information about private home education to our California state legislators and their staff in a friendly, professional manner. This also allows legislators and their staff the opportunity to visit with real homeschool families. Capitol Day volunteers will visit each of the 120 legislators’ Capitol offices, providing each office with an information packet about private homeschooling. These packets help explain private home education as well as provide research showing that privately home-educated children do very well compared with students from the public schools.
Homeschool Iowa Capitol Day is so much more than a day to lobby our legislators! It's an entertaining, educational, impactful experience! Your family can provide legislators a connection with real life homeschoolers. What an effective means to make a real difference. You'll learn about our government and State Capitol and enjoy many additional activities, including: Capitol tours, rotunda rally, educational workshops, scavenger hunts, prayer walks, legislator visits, and more.
